Joy and Enjoyment
“I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to not only work on the wall but engage with the locals. I even played Frisbee with some of the kids, many of which had never seen a Frisbee before and from the screams of joy, it was clear they were enjoying themselves. It was an eye opening experience since what one may regard as insignificant can mean the world to another. I have no doubt, no doubt, that these people can’t wait to see their fellow American friends again and work collaboratively towards the betterment of a small but beautiful country, El Salvador”. From Landslides to Safety
Before the installation of the retaining wall, the hill behind team member Jack Stout was especially prone to landslides.
-
International Team Tag
The team finished this 30x13 foot cinderblock and cement retaining wall. A previous team from Meadowbrook Community Church had also worked on this wall in February.
-
Sifting Sand
Linda Moore and Angel Cervantes work hard sifting sand as part of the process for mixing cement. Both worked in Santa Maria last year on the construction of 24th street.

From Dream to Reality
Everyone on the Exeter team worked hard to finish the retaining wall. Their dedication made the dream of a safer street a reality.
-
The Least of These
Emma Janet Carrillo and her brother Anderson live in the community of Santa Maria. They are among the 30 families who directly benefit from the retaining wall.
-
Thankfulness
The team together with ENLACE Church Coach, Jhony Alfaro, and some church leaders celebrate the dedication of the wall and praise God for his provision.
-
Hands Lifted
At the end of the project dedication, the team laid hands on the wall to pray for the people of Santa Maria and for God’s protection.

New Friendships
Relationships were built not only between the Principe de Paz and New Life churches but between Principe de Paz and the community, as well. Pastor Santiago said, “There is now a closeness with our community; there is trust, and good fellowship. We want to maintain this beautiful relationship that has been born.”
